The people of Isola Island are now back to repopulate another area with the Virtual Villagers: The Secret City game from Last Day of Work. This time around, your villagers will get to explore an island that shows signs of a ruined civilization of a once prosperous city. But just like the first two Virtual Villagers games, it’s still your job to guide your lost people into bringing happiness to their lives in this addictive real-time Adventure Simulation game.

For the uninitiated, your job in Virtual Villagers: The Secret City is to just keep your villagers happy, healthy and wise. This basically means finding them enough food to eat, training each villager on his/her expertise of work, and even guiding them into making fruitful relationships as an example of the many features of this game. And if that’s not enough, all of these things also happen in real-time, meaning that even if you end your game after an hour or so, expect that your people will still continue living their lives and many things will still happen the next time you open up your game.

It’s really convenient that there’s not much difference between the Virtual Villagers: The Secret City game with the first Virtual Villagers games. Well, there’s the addition of several weather effects, new technologies and villager skills and whole new puzzles to solve, but the entire tried and tested “virtual pet” formula was retained in this installment. In fact, the only fault I see on this game would be the fuzzy villager animations, which is really something that this game wouldn’t even dare brag about. But if you have a slow computer, these simple graphics can be a good blessing too since you wouldn’t want your game hanging often from the sheer number of sprites running around your screen now, would you? :-)

After playing Virtual Villagers: The Secret City, it became very clear to me why this series is already one of the most loved casual games of all time. While the whole game play can be quite slow and dragging at first play, I still find this game very much addictive and something that I will go back to for weeks and weeks to come. Its unique gaming is very appealing too and this game is definitely worth your buy if you’re planning to play something that involves an engaging and dynamic game play that will entertain you for a very long time.
