Treasure Seekers: Visions of Gold
Adventure Games, Hidden Object Games, Puzzle Games November 14th, 2008
Pirate blood is strong and it passes down through the generations, transferring the thirst for adventure into their forebears. In the Treasure Seekers: Visions of Gold game, you get to live on the pirate blood through the children Nelly and Tommy, as you play a unique hidden object gameplay in this Big Fish Games exclusive.
Treasure Seekers: Visions of Gold is all about a pirate in the form of Nelly and Tommy’s grandmother. The children had heard stories about their grandma being a pirate before, but never really found any proof of the matter. But one day, Nelly discovered a chest that may link her grandma to this claim, and during the further involvement of her brother, Tommy, they even discovered a map pointing to their grandma’s hidden treasure. Now, you have an adventure in your hands, and you have to help these children complete their legacy being little active pirates themselves, while hoping to find treasure too at the end of their quest.
As far as the hidden object genre goes, the gameplay of this installment is most probably nothing like what you’ve played before. On each level, your first task is to find key items designated by the locked circles on the bottom of your screen. After you identify a key item, the next step is to find the hidden objects you need to drag to that key item until you complete all requirements. Complete all the key items to finish a level and you go further to the next phase of the story, but before you do, there’s also the puzzle mini-game you have to play first.
One of the really great features of Treasure Seekers: Visions of Gold is its challenging and unusual mini-games. Mini-games are in the form of puzzles that you really need experimentation and a bit of IQ to solve, but are not really impossible since you have a choice too to end each mini-game if you’re really having that hard of a time solving it. Besides, the whole game is not timed in any way, therefore enabling you to spam your way out of any puzzle without any penalties incurred on your part.
While in terms of presentation, the game features greatly rendered graphics and gameplay common on most highly planned hidden object games, it still falls below average in the subject of sounds and music. Honestly, the game feels too quiet for comfort, with just the occasional bursts of music trying to make you wake up if you’re already snoozing off on the ambient sounds.
Besides this though, there’s really nothing more to criticize about Treasure Seekers: Visions of Gold. The game is unique and addictive and I loved the whole storyline presented while you go further its many obstacles. Definitely worth the buy too even just considering the great effort put into the game by its developing team, and I bet you won’t be disappointed even if you’re just checking it out.
