After a long break on writing casual game reviews on Casualicious dot Com, I guess I have to make it up to you guys by writing a comeback article about the most recent game coming from PalmStorm Ltd., makers of premium mobile casual games. And with the PC release of the Plantastic game, let’s see how this game fares on our own review and try to check out as well on why this game had been recently selected 1st Runner Up in the Multiplayer & Connected Games category of the Mobile Rules! 08 Awards.

The objectives of the Plantastic game can really mark a big change on how we look at typical Match 3 games. It has 5 different game modes that can be effectively tweaked for your own style. And a choice from 3 difficulty levels as well, each with its own number of matches, effectively adding that challenge many people crave for in most casual games.

The mechanics of Plantastic involves collecting flowers at a given amount which is provided by the vase located at the top left of the game screen. Basically, planting 3 flowers of the same color will make you 1 bouquet, and collecting bouquets will have you win awards! Of course, a game without challenge is quite boring too, so they came up with a certain Mr. Mole that needs good whacking. Well, you have to really whack him silly, or else, your flowers will be the ones who’ll surely be whacked! :-P

A number of power-ups are also present to help you get out of those sticky situations you encounter on certain levels. And the guys at PalmStorm Ltd. came up with a nice array of unique power-ups including a bad weather that makes 6 patches of land explode, the super trowel that allows you to plant a flower anywhere, and my personal favorite, the joker flower that enables you to plant 5 flowers at a time (therefore making killer big combos, woot!). :-D

The Review

Honestly, my first impression of the Plantastic game is that it will be mostly boring, making me worried on how to show its good points on this simple review. However, after much time checking it out, I really had much fun and I definitely enjoyed the overall game play experience! Besides, I also loved playing those old “Whack-a-Mole” games at arcades, so I really had great fun whacking Mr. Mole around. :-)

The animation of the flowers and the background music of the game were pretty “farmy”, therefore making me feel as if I’m on a real farm whenever I play. One thing nice about Plantastic too is that there’s no time limit during the actual game play, so you’ll be able to really think on what move you’re going to do before you plant a certain kind of flower.

In fact, the absence of any time limit is quite a blessing too because I’m telling you now that I find this game not as easy as it looks. Once you get so far to the given color, you’ll be trapped for sure! And that came from experience because, well, I also found myself stuck at a certain level with no moves left before I stopped trying out the game. :-P

All in all, this game gets a whopping thumbs-up for my taste. And saying it more appropriately, the Plantastic game is really one fantastic game! So, I suggest you guys just check it out because you’ll also love it for sure.
