No doubt about it, I just loved the sleuthing touch brought about Her Interactive’s Nancy Drew games. The latest of which is Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy, and by the time I found that its already available in Big Fish Games, I’m now thrilled to tell you guys what to expect in Nancy’s latest game.

As always, in Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy, you take the role of Nancy Drew in a first-person detective adventure. This time around, your friend Kyler Mallory invites you to be her maid of honor for her wedding in Ireland. Castle Malloy is the place of the event, and the stage has been set, but unfortunately, there’s still a big problem before any wedding can take place.

You see, Matt, Kyler’s fiancé went missing less than a week before the wedding. A practical joker that he is, people are convinced at first that this is just one of his most elaborative tricks yet. However, with the appearance of a sinister banshee, and Nancy’s detective work leading to a variety of secret passages within the castle, it’s beginning to look like they won’t be seeing Matt in one piece. It’s up to you then to lead Nancy on her quest, and solve the puzzles to unravel all the clues that may solve the mystery.

Just like the previous games, the gameplay of Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy is so dynamic that there’s really no straightforward solution to close the game’s mystery. Navigate Nancy towards your next clue, talk to people whenever you have a chance, and solve elaborately designed puzzles depending on the clues that you’ll be gathering along the way.

What’s new about this game though is how you will also spend much of your time exploring the castle grounds on a top-view look at Nancy. Exploring the castle grounds will open up other areas to investigate and more puzzles to solve. However, you must be sure to be watching your every step, because just like the previous games, you might bring Nancy to her death too.

The overall design of the game retains the same beautiful presentation just like the previous installments. The graphics and eerie sounds are gripping and from time to time, you’ll hear some Irish tunes roaring in the background too. The puzzles are all so very challenging, but if there’s one thing you’ll find annoying about Nancy Drew games, is that there’s too much talking involved. Well, that’s the nature of detective work anyway, so I guess I can live with that.

Oh, I must say also that the game’s scenery is always night, so if you don’t mind a little bit of a surprise here and there, then I guess it’s fine that you give the game a try yourself.
