Mastermind: The Puzzle Game and Minigame Arcade Game Reviews
Card & Board Games, Online Games, Puzzle Games March 5th, 2008I have some very interesting game reviews for you guys today as we take a break from the serious platformer, tower defense, and puzzle games that we all so used to play in the past few days. Well, you may also say that we’re going slightly unconventional here, but anyway, I promise that this day will still be filled with addictive games that are sure to satisfy your flash game cravings.
That’s because today, I present to you 2 games - one inspired by a famous classic board game, and the other, a compilation of various quick-play mini-games. And unlike our graphic-intensive game reviews the past days, we’re going for “simple yet addictive” today and I just hope that I’ll be getting them some fine reviews on this blog.
Mastermind: The Puzzle Game Review
The 1970’s board game, Mastermind, comes alive once again in this flash game made by Michael Swain and Rodrigo of Toonimated. Aptly named Mastermind: The Puzzle Game, the whole gameplay and idea of this flash installment is still the same with the classic rules, but with some added features fit for modern times.
In this game, you play against Mastermind as you try to break his code by arranging colored pegs in his intended manner. There are 6 colors to choose from, 4 pegs to arrange, and 10 trials in guessing Mastermind’s code before you get defeated. Of course, he will give you clues on how you can defeat him, but you will still definitely use your analytical thinking in order to crack his bald head open.
Now, this is already a classic game, and if you haven’t played Mastermind yet throughout your life, I suggest you give it a try now. I still remember playing this timeless board game with my cousins and this flash game rendition is definitely as good as it gets.
What I liked most though is Mastermind’s random and sometimes funny quotes. They crack me up every time I play a new game, and whenever I get to guess his code. Surely, you must play this one, and if you still find the game very easy, then try your wits on the hard mode where you’re also timed for every turn.

Minigame Arcade Game Review
The Minigame Arcade game is a collection of 10 flash mini-games coming from the artillery of game developers Chad Duncan and Dank. Now, I don’t know if it’s intentional, but most of the games presented in this collection are made for easy and casual playing. The only objective of the whole game collection is for you to achieve a high score enough to be posted on their leader boards. Higher difficulty levels usually mean higher scores, and well, I guess that’s it!
The best thing about this game is that it features quite an amazing array of music that holds your interest even with the repetitive gaming elements. I also liked the option wherein you’ll be able to change cursor and background colors to better suit your eyesight (I guess). But aside from that, I believe that you will find only a selected few of these games worthy of your time playing.
A bit of warning though, the game in its present state is still full with bugs. Now, don’t blame me for posting it here because I still believe that the whole idea of a game collection is very innovative. Anyway, just check it out yourself and please do tell me what you think.
