GameMill Entertainment brings us a fantastic hidden object adventure today with the Lost Secrets: Bermuda Triangle game. And unlike many games of this type that focuses more on presenting mind-blowing graphics and sounds, this time around, the game digs into storytelling roots to keep the player longing for the characters’ development.

The game starts as you put in the shoes of the heroine, Rachel Broadview, a common scholar leading a fairly common life as well. However, things started to change after she discovers the name of her great-grandmother documented in a book containing information about shipwrecks within the Bermuda Triangle. Curious about this link to her past, she then sets off into an adventure to find her great-grandmother’s ship, Abigail Anne, and prepares to embark on a deep-sea journey within the Triangle’s mysterious waters.

In terms of gameplay, Lost Secrets: Bermuda Triangle presents a traditional find-the-list mechanic where in order to finish a level; you’ll have to deplete all listed items on the right side of your screen. While most of the items are certainly random, some of them will develop the game’s storyline too, and with that, a pop-up window will appear and will show how this particular object links to the current state of your adventure. And when you get stuck in trying to find hidden objects, the hot-or-cold hint button is always available to help you out.

After a few levels, you get to play unique mini-games too. An example include the submarine mini-game where you navigate a sub and try to collect all buried treasure without entangling yourself on the sub’s umbilical cord. Another one is the electrolysis mini-game whose objective is to match 2 same patterned symbols to break down tiles, much like a match-3 game.

But with all of these features, the greatest characteristic of Lost Secrets: Bermuda Triangle is still the back story behind the whole game adventure. All I can say is that playing the game feels just like reading a very nice book. The story greatly develops after each scene and the dialogues between the characters blend elements of both fun and seriousness, and amazingly add a pinch of wit as well.

I guess the only limitation of this game is the repetitive music that runs through all of the hidden object scenes. But the lack in presentation stops there though, because all the scenes are beautifully illustrated and ignoring the music, the ambient sounds fit well into the variety of the themes too.
