Jane’s Realty
Action & Arcade Games, Time Management Games August 26th, 2008
If you ever wondered how Jane did after Jane’s Hotel, well, she’s now a millionaire, with a loving husband, and a real estate mogul. Yep, you heard the “real estate” part right. And on the Jane’s Realty game, you get to put in Jane’s shoes as she takes on her husband’s business in this Time Management game coming from Realore Studios.
Jane is back into making money in Jane’s Realty but this time around, she won’t be servicing customers like she did last time. She’s just too business savvy for that now, because this time around, she hires people to do the job for her. Neat, eh? But still, the whole hectic Time Management theme is still on works for this game, meaning you can’t rest your laurels yet even when sitting on a managerial level of power.
Anyway, the objective of the whole game is for you to travel various cities building houses as you try to keep your husband’s real estate business alive. For each level, a goal is set for you to achieve and the mechanics is just to achieve these goals before the time limit runs down. Build houses, acquire tenants and collect rent – these are the basic ideas of the game. But there’s actually more to this game than meets the eye, because you have to do a little bit of interior decorations too.
For every house you build, you have to let your creativity flow too since you need to decorate each house before any tenant will decide to live there. The overall rent of a house is actually determined by the objects you put in it, so you have to take account the positioning and aesthetic value of each furniture before you install them on the house. You can also buy more furniture from the game shop if your current repertoire is not up to snuff, but of course, everything will cost you money so you have to be wise in spending also.
Planning is the greatest challenge in this game since with a limited amount of money and manpower, you’ll have to consider each building’s cost and effect before you even build. You have to take account each tenant’s satisfaction too while you monitor each house’s heart levels to ensure that you keep them happy and providing rent all the time. And with all that, you can just imagine how frantic this game can be especially on its later levels.
What’s really fun about Jane’s Realty is how it plays like Build-a-Lot, and that means an enjoyable and very addictive gameplay. The vast arrays of houses and buildings you can build is sure enough to keep you playing for hours, and the whole game just gets more exciting as you unlock more of them to build. In fact, all of them are upgradeable too, providing more service and rent after spending just a little amount of money.
I also loved how nature takes its course as the Jane’s Realty game flows. With the passage of time, you have to be prepared to repair your old houses and buildings with your ever-trusty crew. And when lightning strikes, clean up after the disaster to keep the city clean from trash.
One thing I hated about the game though is how steep the difficulty curve is even on the few beginning levels. With all the tasks handed down to you, it can get really confusing on what to build or buy for you to achieve all the necessary goals. But I guess this is the real essence of Time Management games anyway, so I’ll just leave it up to you guys to see for yourself.
