Hot Dish Game Review
Action & Arcade Games, Time Management Games January 15th, 2008From the tradition of Time Management cooking games comes the Hot Dish game, where you aim to be a top notch chef that prepares food celebrated by the whole world!
Prepare Food and Aim for the Top!
Here’s the thing. You’re a beginner chef that aims to be a world class 5 Star French chef. You start from the bottom of the culinary ladder of course, as an ordinary cook in an Italian restaurant. Then you work your way up to testing your skills on Asian cuisine before you get to have a crack at the elusive 5 Star French chef prize.
You got that, right? Italian, Asian, then on to French. Honestly, I can’t give any opinions about the choice in the progression of the levels since I haven’t tried any decent French cooking (because they are mostly expensive), but I do like Asian over Italian, because well, I’m Asian too.
Well, another objective is to satisfy the critics for them to give you a thumbs-up for your efforts. The critic reviews are quite predictable because you just have to get a higher rating than 3 stars and you’ll encounter no problems in making the critics recognize you.
Skill, Determination, And A Passion For Food…
The Hot Dish game is really one challenging Time Management that it won’t even spare you a moment to blink while you’re preparing 3 hard-to-make dishes at a time. Well, maybe you’ll get to have like 5 seconds of breathing time when the interface switches from the appetizer, main course, and dessert phases so I guess you don’t have to worry too much.
It also features a mini Match 3 game wherein you’ll be tasked to clean up your area for the quality inspector. This is where you’ll get your bonus power-ups so I suggest you do a good job in getting past this mini game with flying colors.
And On To Our Review…
The unique gameplay wherein you’re tasked to prepare food in the Hot Dish game is very interesting and fun, and I really felt the difficulty curve going up a notch every time I finish a full course meal.
I had some trouble in controlling the mouse during the parts where you have to stir the food though. I don’t know if that’s just me, but well, that’s just the first time that I got frustrated over stirring food, so there!
The game is very engaging as I see it because I didn’t even notice time fly during my testing of the game. The power-ups are really useful, but I really do believe that the power-up location and quantity is inadequate that you won’t even notice it at first, and if you may get to see it, chances are that there’s nothing for you to use.
All in all, the Hot Dish game is a real fun and unique game wherein your cooking skills (I mean, mouse click-and-drag skills) really do matter. It blends well the smooth gameplay with Time Management multitasking and I guarantee you’ll also spend hours of fun playing the game as I did.

[...] The task windows tells you what you have to do and there are small icons which indicate the action – click, move the mouse up and down, left to right, clockwise motion, etc. Clicking is easy and so are the up-down and left-right motions. What irks me is that I have tons of problems with the clockwise motion (used for stirring, mixing, and grinding). It seems that it’s not only me who has this problem – people at Casualicious had the same problem. [...]
