First Class Flurry
Action & Arcade Games, Time Management Games June 11th, 2008
Ever since the success of Airport Mania, the idea of making Time Management games in the Airlines industry definitely looks very much promising. Thus, we have today the First Class Flurry game developed by Viqua Games. But it’s not an Airport Mania clone, mind you, but something that again incorporates some girl running around serving too many customers by herself.
The story started out like this - Starlink Airlines had declared bankruptcy and Claire is about to lose her job. But since she has this great reputation of good service, the new owner, Emma rehired her but to start their services from scratch. Claire then finds herself servicing the economy class flights, with dreams of one day moving towards the first class.
Anyway, First Class Flurry actually follows traditional Time Management gameplay, but instead of servicing in a diner, you get to run around inside an aircraft. Your objective is to promptly serve the passengers drinks, food and sleeping paraphernalia. And if that’s not enough, you also have the task of reseating misbehaved kids, transferring passengers on their requested seats, and even helping your passengers find their misplaced gadgets and jewelry. Not to mention warning them and getting them ready within a time limit whenever turbulence strikes.
All in all, First Class Flurry really adds in some very chaotic gameplay, but to balance things off, task queuing is very smooth too. Upgrades definitely help you tackle new challenges after each stage as each upgrade not only speeds up Claire’s service, but many times improve passenger experience as well. New services are automatically added after each stage, but they will either add more work for Claire, or hopefully help her get the job done faster.
In terms of production values, I would say that the graphics of First Class Flurry is good enough for a fast action game, and the same goes for the music. The assortment of characters is also wide to keep you very interested and on your feet most of the time. The later levels do get very much confusing though, but I guess that’s the reason why you play Time Management games anyway, so I guess I’ll let that go for now.
