Fancy playing a game where you will be able to pit your creativity in cooking? Where a food’s taste and presentation goes side by side in order to fulfill your quest to build the ultimate 5 star restaurant? Well, the Family Restaurant game aims to give you that exact gaming experience.

In the Family Restaurant game, you play as Jenny, the heir of a former 4 star restaurant that just went downhill because of the previous owner’s old age. Passed on with the burning desire of her predecessor, Jenny now aims to carry the old restaurant beyond its previous 4 star status and well, bring back its fame that it once lost. Honestly though, I can’t really recall if the old owner is somewhat related to Jenny, but since the game is titled Family Restaurant, I’ll just assume that he’s Jenny’s father from now on (unless someone corrects me, of course). :P

Rise From The Ashes And Reach The 5 Star Restaurant Fame

The objective of the game, as I had said earlier, is for Jenny and team to reach the 5 star restaurant status while she learns more and more recipes as the game flows along. While most of the time, Jenny’s father will teach you how to prepare his “proven” recipes, you will also be able to create your own dishes too in some points in the game, by mixing and matching a variety of ingredients and hope that this new dish will gain more money and popularity from your customers.

Anyway, the mechanics of the Family Restaurant game is for you to create a perfect replica of an ordered dish basing on your ever-growing restaurant menu (from yours and your father’s creations). And just like the Hot Dish game, you’ll have to make the food as it is traditionally served and earn more money if the cooking and preparation of the dishes are accurately executed. Nice and simple right?

The Review

The thing is that if you have some crappy mouse just like mine, then the Family Restaurant game will get really frustrating for you too. And since the game won’t let me rearrange an already placed ingredient (which happens all the time while I was waiting for another dish to cook), I’ll have to settle in serving some disgusting food that I won’t even imagine eating for myself. Anyway, I’m still aware that it all depends on your playing skill too so don’t take my word for it. :)

Leaning more to the game’s good side, I actually liked its anime-themed characters while they run about and do random actions on the game interface. The sound also has that Japanese pop music ring into it, which I think is both annoying and fun at the same time (weird right?). I’m disappointed about the rough game play handling though, and I hated the fact that I’m having trouble clicking ingredients while I’m already pressed for time to tend to another customer. Thus, bringing me again to the game’s negative side, but I bet you already know my overall view of this game since the beginning.

All in all, the Family Restaurant game is so much a touch of creativity that it can be very fun if you really fancy doing some unique food designs. However, if you just wanted to play a game to relieve some of your stress (like me), then I suggest getting some other game that won’t leave you frustrated through bad game play responsiveness.
