It’s rare to have a knack in interior design but it’s definitely rarer to have a talent for sales too. Fabulous Finds lets you explore both of these talents at the same time in a hidden object game that fuses yard sales and proper house design sense. But its real shine lies in its unique gameplay mechanics and that’s what we aim to explore further in this review.

The game starts after you inherited a beautiful home in Carmel, CA coming from your late Great Aunt Beatrice. The story tells of you having great times with your aunt in redecorating the house and having fun during yard sales, and this time around, you can do that freely since you already own the house. For your aunt’s loving memory, you’re off to get started in interior decorating, and your talent for making some money from sales will help you well, being with no budget to start your dreams with.

Unlike conventional hidden object games, Fabulous Finds explores a gameplay wherein instead of finding listed items, you’re off to look for items that falls within a specific category. Categories are decided by the morning’s newspaper, telling you of certain events that will take place in town, therefore making it a viable market to sell stuff. In other words, you collect items for the yard sale in the hidden object game, and make money afterwards by selling them to the dozens of people visiting town for the events.

Items are not only categorized, but they are enumerated too. Later levels will have you explore various parts of the house to complete the items for sale. Items can also be missing some parts, or needs some polishing up. And that’s why for such incomplete items, you also have to find their counterparts in order to increase their values for the sale.

The second part of Fabulous Finds is the yard sale, and in this interface, you’ll be matching customers to their specific needs. Dozens of people will flock through the house’s yard, and you have to distinguish each one and their needed item from the context clues indicated at the right side of the screen. Some people will need help locating some stuff too, and helping them becomes part of your job if you want to convert them into paying customers.

The hidden object game and the yard sale are both with time constraints to finish, but in my opinion, not really that challenging since the game offers many clues to help you complete each part. Even not timed, clues are also given for the third and last part of the game, which is all about interior decorating. All the money you collected during the sale will be spent on this last part and you have to place specific furniture, appliances and decoration in each room depending on what is asked from you before the level starts.

Fabulous Finds is a neatly designed game with a very addictive and unique hidden object gameplay. One thing confusing about the game though is how some of the categories are too general that many of the items are questionable whether they fall on a category or not. People in the yard sale are also vaguely described, but I guess part of the fun in the game is to distinguish them yourself.

Overall, it’s really one hidden object game worth your try. It’s a blend of three fun game mechanics for each level, which is something you don’t encounter always in most games of this type.
