Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze
Adventure Games, Hidden Object Games, Puzzle Games April 12th, 2008It’s quite a privilege that we get to review today one of the most anticipated casual games of the year 2008. The Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze game coming from Playfirst is the much awaited sequel to the Dream Chronicles franchise of games. In this one however, expect to pit your wits against 80 all-new challenging puzzles and more jaw-dropping background graphics while helping our heroine, Faye battle it out against arch-enemy, Lilith.
Maybe you wanted to try out the previous Dream Chronicles game first? Feel free to check it out here. But for now, let’s talk about the second game’s story.
In the Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze game, Faye, the Fairy Queen of Dreams, finds herself locked away within an ancient dungeon by the mischievous evil fairy, Lilith. Separated from her husband, Fidget, Faye sets off to break out of her prison and travel back and forth between the human and immortal worlds, until she gets back what’s unfairly taken from her. Piece together your family’s past and well, I guess you get to challenge Lilith on the last part of the game too.
It’s quite obvious that I haven’t finished the Dream Chronicles 2 game yet but that’s just because for this installment, the game play is really that long and the puzzles are very challenging. For those uninitiated to the Dream Chronicles saga, it’s actually not your average Hidden Object game. It’s more of an adventure puzzler that accounts for much time spent on addictive brain-twisting fun. And haven’t I said earlier that this sequel is actually much better than the first? Makes you think on how exactly they can do that, right?
The Review
The Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze game is one of the best sequels that I have reviewed so far in Casualicious dot Com. While I haven’t really played much of the first Dream Chronicles game (as you won’t see it on this blog), I honestly became a fan after I tried out this second game. And considering all the hype this sequel is causing in the casual gaming community, I guess that I’m just acting as any normal person would.
The graphics are definitely top-notch and unlike low-end Hidden Object games, the objects are not fuzzy and blend really well with the surroundings. The music is relaxingly cool, the game play is smooth, and you can’t also neglect the fact that the Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze game has one of the best storylines there is on a casual game. All in all, it’s just absolutely perfect… ’nuff said.
The game does not even pay the price when it comes to challenge. Some of the puzzles are really very hard and the lack of “obvious” clues can leave you scratching your head (and searching on Google for that matter). But still, I can’t expect no less from such a great game. Besides, that’s why we buy games like these anyway, right?
Anyway, enough of my chitchat because I’m still trying to finish my own game too… sorry!
Play the Dream Chronicles 2: The Eternal Maze game here.
