The Egyptian Ball game is a Brick Buster casual game genre installment coming from EleFun Games where you travel back in time to Ancient Egypt, armed with a magical-mechanical bat of some sort while tossing away the all-powerful Egyptian Ball.

Honestly though, I haven’t experienced any kind of story in-game, so I guess I’ll just let you guys get a grip of the game’s story from the developers themselves:

Egyptian Ball is a new game by EleFun Games company which will take you back to the remote past, to Ancient Egypt which was ruled by the most powerful people — the pharaohs. You will dive into the boiling pot of terrible war of gods! The temples round about will be destroyed, and you will stand up shoulder to shoulder with those who will build a temple of new faith after deposition of all the enemies of a new pharaoh and his god to the fiery abyss!

Well, basically, the mechanics of the Egyptian Ball game is just like any other Brick Buster game that you may have played before. And that is to cause enough mayhem and destruction on a particular stage until you lay waste to all standing structures, while collecting a wide array of power-ups along the way. What’s new about this game though is that unlike the very common side-view action in most games of this type, you’re given a 3D perspective of your play area. And as with any other innovation, this new feature adds its own advantages and disadvantages to the game.

The Review

One thing I know is that the Egyptian Ball game is really quite unique and graphically beautiful with its 3D perspective. However, one downside to this uniqueness is that most of the time, your Egyptian Ball is hidden from you when shot at the structure’s background. This also presents quite a challenge and I liked it a lot, but it can get a little annoying on some levels too, so your reflex plays a big role.

The game play is very smooth and as I said earlier, the 3D graphics is really awesome. The music blends well with the Egyptian theme but don’t expect much because it’s also the same music running over and over again throughout the whole game. Not a big deal though, because with the fast-paced Brick Buster action, you won’t even have time to take notice of the sound anyway. :-P

I noticed too that the Egyptian Ball game can be very straightforward and quite short. I’m guessing that you’ll spend a maximum of about 2-4 hours in finishing this game because during my testing time, I averaged at about 1 minute and 30 seconds on each level. But I guess that also depends on your own playing style so just play the game to check it out yourself.

Play the Egyptian Ball game here.

Yesterday, when I talked about reviewing more online flash games on this blog, I actually thought that was impossible if our sponsors will continuously release very good casual games everyday. Brainstorming for ideas, I initially thought that we needed a new linkfest aside from our weekly Online Gaming Weekend, but doing another online gaming linkfest will definitely make the weekend idea very redundant. So, I guess we’ll just have to resort to a better solution.

Introducing The Casual Gaming Weekday

The Casual Gaming Weekdays will definitely solve many of our blog problems. And to show you how, let me enumerate some of the problems it will resolve:

  • This opens up quite a slot for us to review and introduce you guys for more and more online flash games. This means that in a week, we will have 2 days assigned for linkfests and then 5 days will be allotted for online flash game reviews. ;-)
  • Reviewing online flash games can be a real time saver. There will be little or no downloading involved and I can definitely take advantage of the extra time to polish my writing. :-)
  • My readers love online games better. I just don’t know if they just visit this blog from time to time just to check if I introduced another online game. :-P

Of course, there will be many disadvantages also, especially when it comes to the monetization part. Honestly, I’m having second thoughts about this because this move will definitely lower down the affiliate commissions I earn from our sponsors. But well, I really wanted to do what I enjoy most, and a gut feeling of mine tells me that I’m doing the right thing. Readers first, the money can follow later, right?

So, will you like this move too? I hope you will.

Anyways, it’s already high time to get linking, so let’s get started.

Totem Quest - Get ready for an epic puzzle adventure with many places to visit, numerous puzzles to solve, mystical events to see and centuries-old secrets to unveil. Use your matching skills to solve puzzles based on innovative, never seen before game mechanics to break your way to the hidden totems. Collect all of the trophies, and discover the mysteries of the long-disappeared civilizations! And remember, you are not alone your wits and eight upgradeable power-ups will help you in your epic quest!

Pat Sajak’s Lucky Letters: TV Guide Edition - Here`s a great new computer game show combining the wit of Pat Sajak and the challenge of TV Guide crossword puzzles. Spin the slot machine and guess the Lucky Letters to win big. Watch for Lucky Chances where you can double your money. Race the clock to solve the puzzle in the Lightning Round. Brain tickling excitement for all!

Sparkle - No one travels without worries in Crowberry Woods anymore. Vast blackness has blanketed the once beautiful forest. Use your orb slinger to shatter the orbs before their power is used to release the eternal night. Can you bring the light back, from a sparkle to full bloom? Explore three different game modes, multitude of greater magical amulets and powerups, and uncover the deepest secrets. Crowberry Woods calls you!

Ice Cream Craze - When Jan`s parents decided to retire, she always assumed she would be next in line to run the family ice cream shop. Little did she know that the beloved shop had fallen on hard times, and to make matters worse, her parents had decided to cut their losses and sell the business. Help Jan keep the ice cream shop in the family as you create desserts, serve customers and purchase upgrades along the way.

I have to say though that purchasing some of these games can really help fund the blog. However, it is never compulsory to do so. :-)

Have a great weekday!

Bonampak Game Review

After much catching up on casual gaming reviews. We finally come to reviewing the Bonampak game, a Brick Buster game about the battle between good and evil. Sounds cheesy? I know. Better read on…

Bonampak? What The…

I’m quite confused at first on where the hell they got the name of the Bonampak game. But then, Wikipedia always knows, so let’s just clarify what it means.

Bonampak (Bòonam Pak’ Painted Wall in Modern Maya) is an ancient Maya archaeological site in the Mexican state of Chiapas. The site is approximately 30km (20 miles) south of the larger site of Yaxchilan, under which Bonampak was a dependency, and the border with Guatemala.

Quite fitting for the game, really!

Okay Then, How Does It Fit?

The Bonampak game story tells about your journey to the evil Tirit’s tower in order to destroy the crystal that is supposedly used to open the portal to a dark world. For you to do just that, you have to break through the obstacles of Bonampak.

Now, what’s not mentioned in the story is that the game also features ancient Maya-like graphics and sound. We’ve seen the Maya theme used over and over again on games like these. Heck, we even encountered Maya themes for Mahjong games. But you know why? It’s because in a visual level, Maya themes are very effective, and they look good when integrated into casual games.

Tell Me About The Game Then…

To be honest, the Bonampak game is the first Brick Buster game I played since Arkanoid, and just like my last experience, I had lots of fun bouncing off those silly little balls.

As I had said earlier, the visuals are really stunning (not to mention the awesome brick formations), the sound also does a good job in accompanying the game, and the gameplay is as smooth as I expected.

The boss battles after every level are also nice. And the difficulty curve is balanced through each level.

It’s kinda exciting whenever you get powerups that blasts through bricks like they’re made of glass. However, the nice little effects can sometimes make you lose track of the ball (but we’ve already grown accustomed to that right?). I also got frustrated whenever a lone brick lands on a hard to reach corner, but since that’s a challenge typical of Brick Buster games, I’ll let it go for now. :)

There you have it, the Bonampak game is one great Brick Buster game and I really suggest you give it a try. It’s hours and hours of excitement and I guarantee that you’ll love breaking through those bricks as I did. :)
