Cassandra’s Journey: The Legacy of Nostradamus is the latest hidden object game published by Big Fish Games and developed by JoyBits. And just like many of Big Fish’s many exclusives, this installment presents beautifully presented visuals backed up by a deep storyline involving magic and mystery. And many other things are new to this game too, and I hope to tackle some of them points on this review.
First and foremost, the story of the game puts you in the shoes of Cassandra, an apprentice seer that practices the art of fortune telling, and seems to be pretty good at it once using her grandmother’s ancient ring. But unfortunately one day, the ring just went missing from its locked case, and Cassandra, not able to take in clients, must find it at all costs. Good thing though is that the spirit of Nostradamus came to help her during this dire need, offering insights and clues leading to the recovery of this magical ring.
During the actual hidden object game, your task in Cassandra’s Journey: The Legacy of Nostradamus is to just straightforwardly find all items listed on the bottom of each location. Items can be listed by name, by silhouettes, and on the rare times, by ingeniously crafted riddles describing the items. There are also instances when you have to form the listed units by dragging parts across the screen, which is conveniently represented by the cursor changing to a hand form when you are able to.
Hints are also given to help you find hidden objects. There are 3 kinds of hints varying from their preciseness in locating items, and you have to purchase them for replenishment if you desperately need their help. Buying hints require collecting gems, and if you find yourself lacking time, you can buy minutes too to add to that dwindling clock.
Aside from the great storyline presented by this game, one other feature I liked most is the number of mini-games you can play during the course of your adventure. Mini-games range from usual find the difference to other puzzles like match 3 games and solitaire. You will be able to unlock clever magic tricks too as presented by Nostradamus himself, all in all making Cassandra’s Journey: The Legacy of Nostradamus very much fun than your average hidden object sleuthing game.
