There’s nothing like good old treasure hunting to boost up a pirate’s spirit and in the Caribbean Pirate Quest game, you get to do just that as you search for ten legendary treasures scattered through five different treasure maps filled with Match 3 gaming fun.
Developed by Spell Of Play Studios, Caribbean Pirate Quest puts you in the shoes of a pirate captain off to sail the open seas in search of great fortune and grog. Your objective is to scour a map area with every legendary treasure you can find by landing through possible treasure locations and unlocking them by playing a traditional Match 3 game. Treasure locations aren’t always filled with gold though. Sometimes, they just contain worthless encounters or trash, but most of the time, they contain valuable clues pointing towards the direction of a legendary treasure.
What’s unique about the Caribbean Pirate Quest game is that it combines casual gaming with a trickle of RPG elements, thus boasting a non-linear game play not seen on many Match 3 games. Efficient exploration is the key into beating the game, but it really doesn’t limit you if you would like to go through all the treasure locations in a particular map area. In other words, I really loved this unique game feature and I found the game play very much engaging and addictive.
While Caribbean Pirate Quest doesn’t really boast great graphics, I really did have some good laughs with many of the game’s funny voice-overs. Some of the music felt as if they’re incomplete too and the absence of mini games and lack of explosive power-ups gives the game a lax feel.
That’s why I’m quite confused on why I had much fun playing this game. Maybe because the game emits a great aura of adventure… I really don’t know. But what I’m sure of is that it’s definitely worth your try to see if you’ll have the same point of view like me too. Perhaps, we can discuss it also here, eh?

I’m one of the deveopers of this game (one of the voiceovers are actually mine, and it was a laugh recording them!) and I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Our goal was in many respects to open up and making a non-linear rpg:ish game and at the same time keep it casual.
