Reflexive Entertainment brings us another one of those highly addictive and uniquely conceptualized games with the Build-in-Time game. And this time around, you get to start your own construction firm from the ground up in a click-frenzy type of Time Management game.

In Build-in-Time, you play as Mark Retro, a teenager with a knack in building things but still at a lost in finding his true calling in life. One faithful moment at the High School Career Day changed his life for the better though, as he got sucked in as an intern for the Anderson Construction Company, where he found his long lost Uncle Al Retro. But realizing that Mark’s talents are too big for Anderson Construction, it’s time to move on bigger and better things as the duo started their own construction company. The year is 1950, and now, it’s up to you to help Mark and Al reach new construction heights while evolving your service as the years pass by.

Build-in-Time, just like any Time Management game and much like Build-a-lot, involves you taking orders from customers and giving them service depending on their housing specifications. After answering the phone and getting their housing ideas, you have to put your framing and painting teams to the job, drag the customer to his/her new home and watch how the profits come rolling in. Sometimes, they ask for specific house locations too, so planning is very essential to keep all your options open.

Basically, the best strategy to employ in this game is to just keep all of your builders and painters busy doing jobs. You have to plan all their activities effectively so that you’ll have less time catering to your customer’s requests. However, if you find that strategy insufficient, you can always use the click assist feature in this game wherein you have to click repeatedly on a specific job to make your employees work faster.

Of course, Build-in-Time won’t be much of a Time Management game if you can’t upgrade your construction stuff. Before starting each level, you have an option to spend your hard-earned profits for housing, garage and add-on upgrades. Here, you can also buy stuff for your customers, hire more builders and painters, and get specialized employees too like the Greeter and the Junior Foreman, which helps you automatically on certain tasks.

Another feature I loved about this game is the Star Scenarios which can be viewed on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Star Scenarios are basically optional objectives per year that can earn you stars (duh!), life rewards and bragging rights if you get to achieve them successfully. Examples of Star Scenarios include customers wanting a specific lot for their house, achieving a target profit for a certain year, and many more. But the most rewarding part of this feature is the additional story added to your scrapbook after you achieve perfect stars for each decade.

Build-in-Time is really one awesome game that fuses classic Time Management with strategy and mouse button-mashing. In fact, you can classify this game as a Match 3 installment too, since matching 3 same-colored houses in a row will reward you with the Mega Click Assist skill where you can build and paint houses much faster compared to a regular click assist. And if that’s not enough, the game features a trophy system too where you can view your most special achievements during the actual action game.

One thing lacking for Build-in-Time though is how you can’t queue tasks for your workers. However, the gameplay is already an all-around winner and I’m guessing that this lack adds only to the challenging and confusing (in a frantic sort of way) nature of this game. In fact, you have to take note of the great graphics and sound too, changing significantly after reaching decades upon decades of house-building fun.
