Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year
Action & Arcade Games, Time Management Games April 13th, 2008It’s quite amazing that our review of the first Build-a-lot game immediately took place after we transferred here at Casualicious dot Com (coming from Blogspot). And now, I guess it’s just like an anniversary as we get to review HipSoft’s much awaited sequel to the real estate Time Management simulation game. So without further ado, I now present the Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year game review.
The Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year game, as well as the first Build-a-lot game gets you to fill in the shoes of a real estate developer, whose task is to satisfy construction requests from your local clients. And on the case of this game, your clients are the mayors of each of the town you get to have projects on, themselves. Fulfill the requests, learn the ropes of real estate planning, and of course, earn money and reputation in the process. And if you’re good enough (or fast enough since this is a Time Management game), you get to have some of those shiny badges too for all your efforts.
What’s really important in the Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year game is money management and budgeting. While some buildings may help you earn discounts for materials and manpower, every dollar earned and spent still counts toward all your goals. Thus, presenting the player with a challenge regarding planning your course of action for each area. Considering also many other factors like a certain town or building’s appeal rating and rent rate, it’s quite an all-around game offering non-repetitive game play for its players.
The Review
The Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year game is really loads of fun and also, in my opinion, better than the original game. The graphics are very well made, the music changes for every town, and the game interface does not overwhelm any new player even with its many features. There are also newer blueprints for you to research, resulting to more buildings constructed. And of course, better features adding more dynamics to the game.
The difficulty curve offers a nice challenge that won’t surprise you unlike other Time Management games too. And really, the unique theme of this game is very appealing for those wanting to have a break from the usual fast-food-style casual game installments. People into real estate will really love the Build-a-lot 2: Town of the Year game, as well as those dreaming of being one too such as myself. And really, it just feels good when you’re racking in those millions of dollars from building rent while hoping that it’s not just from some addicting game, right?
