BoomsticK
Action & Arcade Games, Online Games, Shooter Games April 3rd, 2008Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. This is my BOOMSTICK!!!
Heard that phrase from somewhere before? Well, I guess that’s where our game review for today got its name. Other than the possibility that after that particular phrase was coined on the film, “Army of Darkness”, shotguns became well known as boomsticks too. But you’ll soon recall that on the video below this post, for now, let’s talk about the game.
The BoomsticK game, coming from Abduction Studios Inc., is a point-and-shoot mayhem of a game where you take control of a stickman and his powerful trusty shotgun as you destroy various flying shapes of different sizes and colors. Composed of 21 tiers of shape invasions, make your way across all the particles hell-bent on destroying you while picking up ammo and power-ups along the way. The shape boss awaits you at the end, survive enough of the onslaught, and face his wrath with BoomsticK at your side.
The Review
The BoomsticK game actually reminds me very much of the same shape-shooting action found in RetroSplode. Unlike the retro game though, the side view action of BoomsticK is much more challenging and more exhilarating. Considering that you can’t jump too, because well, jumping is for sissies anyways.
The graphics and sounds are just so nice that I can play this game forever if it doesn’t have that ending (and if I stop dying every time I get to the last stage, lol). The game play is very smooth too, aside from the occasional lag I experience when too much particles are raining down on the interface. That’s why the flash settings are my friends, thus, I can diminish the quality anytime.
And because we’re lacking some good Shooter games recently, it’s really nice that the BoomsticK game surfaced and filled up that void.
P.S. I promised a video, so here it is! Check out the origins of the BoomsticK (I think).
